Wow, November has flown by. I can't believe it is 29 days until Christmas (to my children's dismay - we have the daily countdown). This month's challenge was a great challenge as I have never kneaded bread by hand. The dough was delightful to work with and the dough rose to a wonderful height (I worried unneccesarily about the 2 teaspoons of yeast for the amount of flour). This month's recipe was from the talented Tanna at My Kitchen in Half Cups. She chose a savory bread as an antidote to all the super sweet challenges of the last few months.
The recipe was very easy to follow and straightforward. I opted for 8 ounces of potato and chose to make rolls and a loaf of bread. My dough doubled 45 minutes before the two hours and was very easy to roll and shape. When the bread was baking the 450 was too hot from my oven and I had to quickly decrease the temperature as the bottoms of the rolls became slightly black.
The dough risen. The object to the left is my daughter's snail shaped roll. An inside look of the bread and the baked snail. This bread dough was hearty and satisfying. The dough smelled wonderful too. If you would like to try this recipe check out Tanna's blog, My Kitchen in Half Cups.
